Drink Water
Water is an essential nutrient that helps maintain a healthy weight and prevents dehydration. It also promotes normal digestion, prevents constipation, and supports normal kidney function.
Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning and carry a water bottle with you throughout the day. Try adding fresh fruit to your water for a delicious taste without added sugar or calories.
Other fluids that can help meet your fluid intake include low-fat milk, 100% fruit juice, and decaffeinated tea. Avoid beverages high in added sugar, such as soda and energy drinks.
Certain health conditions or medications can affect fluid intake, so consult your doctor about the right amount of water for you. Mild dehydration can cause headaches, and fatigue and make concentration difficult. Make sure you are drinking enough water by observing thirst, tracking your fluid intake with an app, or setting alarms to remind yourself to drink.
